more good for the soul stuff.
i have been inspired by a synergy of fab artists lately. i actually got out some back issues of legacy/somerset-etcetera, idea books. there are so many talented artists' roaming the earth. and i'm wow'ed by many. i decided i would do a journal using the cover/backs of hard back books as the pages. the journal is about me, my family, my life. my likes and dislikes. what i love. WHO i love. my thoughts. simply me. so far i only have 3 pages, but many more will be added. the pages are bound by twisted wire, and closes/opens accordian-style. the cover is just a synergy of 'me' elements. an antique dip pen and metal pen - across the top that i found at an antique store. the metal pen is very cool- it's attached to bead chain that you wore around your neck, and it 'twists' open. of course, it's now encased in beeswax and doesn't work, BUT- it's the element that matters. right.? i also found this old compaq that partly covers a glassine sleeve that will hold something eventually...... . on my photo i just dropped dye to distort the image some.
this is the front view of the journal open. the center page is a photo transfer. i photocopied the photo and transferred it with fingernail polish remover. simple. effective. i wanted this page to stay simplistic. the page to the right ...i'm still playing
these are the visuals of the backs of the previous pages. still playing with the page on right ...i like getting the concept, then skipping around working on each page randomly. this journal will have a lot of journaling. the page to the left has some of my thoughts written with the dip pen and ink... i battle with using the dip pen, and usually end up with ink all over my hands, but love the end result (usually). i'm having fun pulling this out and working on it simply when i feel like i want to express a thought or my day. i'm very excited at the thought of how this will look when more pages are added, and more inside content as well. it'll sit on my coffee table; a tower of my life elements
