i never knew a USB cable would mean so much to me!!!   lost. now found. so i'm back with a few ARTwork images:-)

of course i can't show this little booklet in it's entirety (collaboration) but, i can show -pieces-

this booklet is made up of aged book pages. very cool. and in my honest truth.......i have to admit that i didn't have it in me to 'hit' every page-so i glued a few of them together!to make a couple THICK pages!*wink  

-dimension, ya know!!!

so this is designed using color wash, masking tape, the mini eye tissue (yep, going overkill on these little EYE tissues lately, but they're SO flippin cool!!!), gold metallic pen and my black ink and nib. i did do some of the handwriting with ball-pt. pen here.  oh yea......i regressed and went back to using some acrylics! haven't done that in a while!

so there ya go! VISION AND PLAY!

life's full. very good. tony and i spend about every weekend on the bike so my studio time is limited at the present, but i promise it's all good*wink.

this weekend we are heading to Little Rock AR to watch bobby ARMwrestle in the national tourney that he took 4th in about 3years ago. i'm so excited to get to go this year! he called me today to confirm that i wouldn't forget my camera! ME-? is this kid serious!!!!!  so saturday-early-tony, eth and i will head out on our little road trip. will be fun.

HEY-HELLO!!!   I'm back and it's gonna be another one of my fab loong posts'!  he.he.he.

i guess that's what happens when i only come here randomly anymore!!  sigh. so little time and i know i need to do better.

i do have ART!!!   yea! but first get this.....    Eth has graduated High School! Crazy fact! Surreal...   but i'm yahoo-ing all over the place:-)   seriously so proud of him -truely and always my baby boy!

THIS> is a cool little grad photo album i put together for T's Haley:-)  its easy too...  i used one of those cheap 1.99 photo albums and made my own 'shell' using hardback bookcovers. after i sized it up, i binded it with wire. the numbers are attached with wire too

the ceramic moon has book text that says 'go for this; play!'  the focal on this is a grad cap GIFT CARD HOLDER that i got at target' (love that place!!) i used spray paint on the tassel and the wire numbers are layered acrylic fo the textured-dimensional look that i love

the background is A LOT of acrylic layers over modeling paste.

the backpage is really fun! the same texture as the cover- only i used a mini tissue with the eye image over the top ( i love this! ). cut out book text that says AN EXPRESSION OF Fame, Love, and Success. pretty much sums it up :-)

So we had 2 graduations in 1 week! Eth graduated on Sunday, and Thursday morning we headed to Tenn for T's daughter's grad that very night!! We had a fabulous week.

a partial visual of some recent work i contributed to the collaboration i'm in. cool stuff.

this is a 3*part journal bound by metal rings and wire. *smile- it's very cool and a great creation. this piece was done on a piece of hardback book cover. after adhering the pic i used my heat tool to the point of burning the edges. a very cool end result i wasnt expecting:-) the wings (love them!!) are black feathers, well, partial pieces of. i added some book text, distressed the pic even more with a file and added handwriting with nib and ink. remember, the collaboration is titled SELF CONTAINED.  it's good for the soul work! so this piece is on it's way to NYNY and seth  

i really love this so much i think i want to almost dupe it in my own journal!

deep thought* do you ever go back and look/read through your journal and wonder what the hell was i thinking or doing-??  *smile:-) my journal is great, but i went back to the begining of my current life journal (est.mar08) last night and read my thoughts at that time to present time, and it's amazing how we move on and realize what we thought was 'it', 'wasn't', but i thought it was at the time only to move forward and realize i am in a better place in my life now...  (chuckle-   that sounded like a clear thought!lol:-) my love for journals is for 1.the outlet  2.the ART  this very thing i'm talking about, to have the visual and to read how my life evolves. it also reinforces what a great outlet my journal is when i need it. i guess you could say it's like creating in the moment to get through it or to even clarify ?  my trend shows great things, and helps reinforce how much good i have in my life at present. blessed, no doubt

i'm working on another project, and this focus is self expression. how we express our passions, and how the definition of ARTIST is very deep and varies from one passion to another. also how 2 different passions of art can be combined into 1 in the end result. kinda cool thought isn't it ?  i did a photo shoot of my boyfriend's tats. he's is such a big encouragement to me in my art. i love him so much for a lot of reasons, but a big one for me is the fact that he is interested in and is amazed at what i do. he 'gets it', and that drives me even more to push myself towards new opportunities in my work. i hope the end result of my work helps drive him even more to start building his dream that's in its raw stages right now. i just want to inspire him like he does me:-) he's like me in the sense that his tats have meaning-symbolism. he doesn't have a tat just to have it. there's a reason and is his way of expressing his love of ink and good art. this goes hand-in-hand with his other passion for bikes. i also shot him doing what he loves to do and that's to build and work on bikes. he's an artist in his own right. i'm anxious to start on this... and it's gotta be mind-blowing  *smile.

new work.

this is my piece for the self contained collaboration. well- i'm only posting some closeup visuals becuz one of the players hasn't gotten her  hands on it yet*wink

this concept came from an issue of Legacy where the artist (dont remember who -but i liked her work!) created 'photo' boxes from small wooden slats. i encased the box with strips of wide masking tape then covered that with acrylic. the feet are old and worn apholstery tacks. the bottom is where each player will sign/date when they worked on the piece. this hits 9 times, but only has 5 workable sides     .....hmmmm, it's gonna be interesting to see how creative we get for the last round-1/2. :-) i love challenge.

the collaboration theme is SELF CONTAINED. it's interesting -the different insight all 3 of us players have. i love this kind of play because it's all real.

the visuals are of the top. i wanted to keep it simplistic because the vile itself is pretty full of symbolism. busy. the white acrylic tones it down some. i'm not going to go into a lot of detail about this yet, but i will tell you the vile is full of burnt matches which all have a different descriptive word (cut out book text) adheared to them. ....can you only imagine-? (LOL) i'm excited to see the end result to this and have full intentions of having it sit out in my studio to remind and inspire me always:-P

I’m back-  life is great and crazy full for me right now. A lot going on so I’ve been MIA here, but have gotten some time in for a little journal action J (here goes another one of those long posts  -ready?)

FIRST I’m going to brag on Bobby!!! After 2.5yrs he’s gotten back in competition armwrestling and I have a couple pics to show.

I truely admire this boy and his mindset to persue anything that interests him. No limits with this kid and he has a good time. He's so great. I was here with Eth and his gang…   it was a fun night and as always entertaining with these boys!

Here’s a recent (month-1/2 ago) journal page that I did. It’s a lot of journaling and has a lot of symbolism-meaning. True heart kinda stuff J

We just got back from a bittersweet trip to Tenn. Loosing a loved one isn’t easy at all, especially when it’s unexpected, but family and friends and community there are so supportive and so welcoming-loving-supportive. True Faith, and I embraced my time there. Beautiful-Beautiful country.

Here i used an Affliction clothing tag that completely fits here- 2 passions combined into 1 design found! Masking tape and black and white labels were used. In the bottom left-handed corner i created a piece by wrapping a bird diecut with copper tape, with a jump ring i attached the "AF", and with another jump ring attached the heart. It's all taped into place with strips of masking tape. I really love this layout -meaning and it's appearance of simple-messyness! It's basically black/white. A little 'pop'

I don’t seem to find a lot of time to keep this updated, or do a lot of journalwork lately, but man when I do…  I seem to bust out these huge posts! J

I have ART! (yahoo)..  I’m starting this off with people pics. Y’all know how near and dear my boys are to my soul, and every once in a while I capture a pic that only I can appreciate. This is one of them. *story- this pic was taken right after Eth’s final win to his wrestling career. The next match would be to qualify for state. Bobby was matside and I gotta tell you, this boy wanted his baby brother to win and take it all so damn bad! He was crushed when eth lost his qualifying match 7-6. it was a heartbreaker –no doubt. As a mom I was proud of and sad for eth, securing a spot on the Varsity wrestling team as a freshman; a 4year letterman whos high school wrestling career just ended, but I felt equally proud of and sad for bobby when I looked down and saw him by eth's side through this tourney. constant support and motivation; an all-around great mentor. as well as seeing how crushed he was with eth’s loss L. Bittersweet. I look back at the days when these boys fought constantly and remember me always saying to them that one day they would be each other’s best friend.

They are now. And I’m so proud of that. 

ART.

This is a photo album that I altered for someone very special to me who loves my work. Simply put, it’s just a fact.

I’m not big on doing artwork for anyone else but myself and mine. Only because we put so much into this crazy passion we have that unless someone appreciates it, it’s not worth the effort.

He appreciates it.

I took an existing photo album and covered it with masking tape. Then I covered the tape with spray paint. The real reason for this album is to 1.use as a portfolio of pics, 2. to display the soldered emblem in center-front cover. The piece was made by creating a template and transferring- then cutting it out of chipboard. Then I wrapped it in copper tape and soldered it. I did this piece in one-shot and seriously you have to see it in real life to appreciate how cool the end result is. The album had an existing frame on front that I sealed with copper tape and soldered it myself. I randomly rubbed silver metallic rub-on onto the solder. The rest of the design in this album is a synergy of beeswax, plastic bag (with the harley emblem), bike tape transfer on back. I created the album closure with very old beadchain, part of an old key chain and another metal piece that just looked like it belonged here. It’s attached with wire that I wrapped around the end and twisted onto the keychain.

On the inside I personalized it with strips of masking tape and journaling with black ink –using my dip pen.

It was pretty cool to see how excited he was to get this.

I have some new journal pages ready to post, but I think I’m gonna hold off until next week to post them-  (I’ll give a teaser visual because that’s just how I am J) I promise the rest is so cool.

i've had no time for my art lately but i do have a photo album in the works that i'm pretty excited to get posted, so the hope is before the weekend i'll have it up. it's a gift that needs to be completed. i don't make art for a lot of people, but when someone comes into my life who is blown away by- and is into my art like this person is i find myself wanting to create something for them that is a one-of-a-kind;unique collaboration of my ART + something they're very passionate about. should be a pretty cool end result that fits my style -edgy- *wink... i'm also getting psyched to get started on a long-term collaboration with 2 other artists that i'm so ready to dive into!

BTW- went to the theatre and saw TwiLight last weekend (SHOCKer cuz it's been so long since i was in this teenage-infested place! i almost felt like i was out of place!)  now i'm reading the series of 4. i know- xciting. if i can get myself acclimated to read more than 10 pages before it puts me to sleep, that would be great! (this latest obsession is cutting into my already limited studio time ;-)

2 new pieces. SHOCKer!

the -work in progress- i mentioned in my previous post is now done. i didn't add much to this because it's so "busy" with the photo collage and the dark coloring doesn't help...  so to compliment the copper acrylic in the beeswax, i added the copper/silver/blk rub on to help make the focal pic -pop-! i also took a stylus and created a framing in the beeswax around the entire page. then filled the negative space with copper acrylic like in the lettering. just a little more -pop-

 

 

this second piece

is designed to explain the tattoo on my arm. it's something i designed to symbolize the cross-roads the boys and i are at right now. all 3 of us are going in different directions yet always together even if not in person. always in spirit and heart. wings symbolizing strength and freedom. i handwrote our initials in the center where the wings would come together; the top emulating the top of a heart. this design is re-created using wing stamps and a piece of metal ephemera that i cut in half. the wings are stamped on clear plastic so they would have dimension away from the page- not blending in

i love this tat and what it symbolizes for me. it's personal. and it's very cool in real life.

the rest of the design is black acrylic and rub-ons basically. at the bottom i took a lazer-printed photo image of the boys and me and cut around 'us'. i adheared it to the page with combo water/glue which washed away some of the image to give it a distressed appearance. i knew i wanted to write over the top of the image so i wanted to take away from the boldness of the pic. in the center i put an empty cigarette package that i think is so cool with the hot pink and black. 

inside is the business card to the tat place with journaling i put on the back.

so...   finally getting some studio time in was great and i finally broke through my creative block i'm thinking..  a great reprieve to the winter cold  -snow. i love winter days but it would be much more tollerable with even a little snow accumulation! oh well- it is what it is, right
